Thus this printer is junk for us. The manual and online error messages are completely unhelpful. We were able to print a few photos on this printer before it malfunctioned with an error indicating a paper jam. We could find no jam, but have not been able to make the printer function since this problem.
The desktop is wired and the laptops are wireless. I have printed T- Shirt decals, I have printed on photo paper, and even resume paper and everything has come out beautiful. Another good feature is that digital cameras can be connected directly to the printer to make photo prints, so you don't have to bother transferring the images from the camera to your computer. It has two paper feeders so you can either load up a large quantity of plain paper, or use the tray for photo paper, and the top feed for plain paper.
I replaced my old HP printer with this one. Two of the laptops have Windows XP and the third has Windows Vista. I have also networked a desktop and three laptops to this printer and they all work great. The main reason I bought this printer was because the ink cartridges were much cheaper to replace than the HP.
Which I think is a very good feature. All in all I like this printer best out of all the printers I have owned so far. I am very satisfied with this printers performance. The speed of the printer is very good as well.
Fabulous but discontinued, best for recharging cartidges where it is allowed like in my country
I love the paper tray so i am not always having to reload. I can't remember when i got this one i have had it so long. AFter all this use it occasionally says it is out of paper when there are a few sheets left, but that is its only issue. By far the best printer i have ever owned. Most trouble free high quality printer i evern had. I don't think i ever had another printer (except the old reliable pre-inkjet type) for that a year. When it dies i am calling Canon to get their recommendation unless they are still selling this one.
Print quality is outstanding. Then i used this one a bit and forgot all about the other one. At first i was miffed because i had done a lot of research and thought the other was THE ONE. And it lasts forever. I think Canon thinks it was a pretty good machine because i returned a different printer that had issues and they replaced it with this one.
I have had Lexmark, Epson, other Canons, HP, and this beats them all hands down. I think it is at least 3 years old and maybe a good bit older and still cranking. But that seems to happen pretty quick after the warranty ends. Easy on ink. I have never worn out a printer, just print heads and similar parts.
I also take alot of digital photos, and use this to make medium-quality prints for my friends and family; the two tray paper system it uses makes it easy to keep a supply of plain paper and photo paper in the unit and select either with a button push. I mainly use this for printing out reports, and it does so with ease (those not familiar with modern ink-jets will be amazed at how quickly it can crank out text pages). The built in pic-bridge port is great when I want low-quality proof prints right away. I bought this printer when I entered college, 4 years ago, and it has preformed great for the whole time. This printer is really a jack-of-all trades, with fast crisp text and adequate quality picture prints.
